"A purge"

First Elder said —

yes, they agreed, a purge.

Sparks from treetop height plummeting

to earth.

Everyone shops at Opthalmo-Mart

go ahead,

ask machine Mom — she always

says No

Rrose purrs        her scales shine like Pyrex

newly postop,

smoothing salve

on the ansible

be very still        air will cool your skull

Minsk stole her heart

Zveta thaws out

a replacement

drink to me        only with graphene eyes

Richard Magahiz tries to live an ordered life in harmony with all things natural and created but one that follows unexpected paths. He wrangles computers as a day job but imagines a time when life might center around other things. Richard appeared previously in Bairns 107, 109, and 121. His website is https://zeroatthebone.us/
