s n e s nights
by Mack W. Mani
(What if I told you)
those lonesome
s n e s nights
never ended?
(that all the times
you thought
the wolves had come)
the way your
heart felt beating,
tightly wrapped around
the controller
(all the wretched laughing
bad reactions debt and dying)
the endless afternoons
and all the strange cartoons
(it was just them
scraping at the inside
of your skull)
sitting on the floor your room
(your mind in a tank somewhere)
bathed in commercial sunstream gold
(these dreams implanted)
What if you were sitting there still
(and you couldn’t wake up,
even if you wanted to)
and you can wake up
any time you want to
